Statement of State Rep. Nick Collins
One week ago today, our State Senator Linda Dorcena Forry announced she was leaving politics and moving on to new opportunities.
I thank Senator Dorcena Forry for her years of dedication to our neighborhoods and wish her and her family well.
Since her departure, I have engaged in conversations with my wife Olivia, my family, and residents of the neighborhoods across our diverse district.
Many of the conversations echoed the same theme: we need a leader who will listen and work tirelessly to improve the quality of life in our community. Our senator needs to be someone who knows our neighborhoods and will improve education, understands the urgency of upgrading our transportation network, is committed to addressing the opioid epidemic and making our streets safe and will fight for the crucial community funding required to meet these challenges.
I am ready to be that leader. Our district is one of the most culturally diverse in the state, and my vision, passion and experience will deliver results that will improve the quality of life for every neighborhood.
Today, I will file for nomination papers to be your next State Senator. I would be honored to represent you in the Senate and hope we have an opportunity to speak soon.
