First Democratic ward committee to endorse in the race cited Collins’ record on equality, housing, transportation

BOSTON, Mass., April 3, 2018 – The Ward 15 Democratic Committee, which represents several neighborhoods in Dorchester, has endorsed Nick Collins in the race for state senator for the First Suffolk District.

“Rep. Nick Collins has worked competently and harmoniously with our dear friend and recent state Sen. Linda Dorcena Forry,” Committee Co-Chairs, Winston Richie and Eileen Boyle, said. “We look forward to working with him on the many challenging issues and concerns that face Dorchester’s residents. In the endorsement process he committed to prioritize the issues raised by the Committee. We are confident that he will respond to our endorsement by continuing the energetic and productive leadership that Linda Dorcena Forry gave to all neighborhoods in the First Suffolk Senate District.”

The committee is the first to endorse in the race and selected Collins based on his positions on a host of issues, including housing, equality, public safety, transportation and development.

Collins has campaigned on a platform focused on several key areas: public health and safety, social justice, economic opportunity and job creation, reliable transportation, affordable housing, vocational and skills-based job training, and environmental preservation and stability. As state senator for the Fourth Suffolk District, Collins will focus on joining with civic, business and elected leaders in Dorchester, Mattapan, Hyde Park and South Boston to continue his work on these and other key issues impacting the First Suffolk District.

“I’m proud to receive the endorsement from this important Democratic ward committee representing so many great Dorchester neighborhoods,” Collins said. “In meeting with residents and business owners in Ward 15, I’ve learned a great deal about the issues that matter to them most and look forward to advocating on their behalf as state senator.”
